AMMOLITE (KORITE)
At our October General Meeting, June
gave an interesting talk about Ammolites
We were able see two beautiful examples
of Ammolites (that looked very like black
opals) she had obtained during one of her
visits to America. She related the
entertaining story about her introduction to
these gems. Her offer to a lady to use
June’s fur coat as a cushion in the
crowded bus, taking visitors from one
venue to another at one of the gem shows,
turned out to be her discovery of ammolites!
Ammolite is a biogenic gemstone,
meaning that it is formed by life processes
